Does anyone on here actually still appreciate the effort of the people whom take their time to answer questions.
Or is it standard to take the knowledge without gratitude ?

I won't respond, just interested in other people's views.

Some people on here give thanks in odd ways. Shortly after I joined the site, somebody asked three questions for a quiz they were doing. The first person to reply answered the first question, I was second to answer and replied to the third and the last person answered the second. The quizzer eventually thanked the first and third person, me? I'm still waiting....

Yes, quite a few do appreciate. But of course there are some that don't show it. Hardly arrogant though possibly a little ignorant of good manners.
Hmmm. Klazo posts to complain about people failing to acknowledge responses and then writes "I won't respond". Am I missing something here?

For what it's worth though, I'll mention that I've found the likelihood of a response to often be inversely proportional to the amount of effort that I've put into it.

For example, if I quickly google for an answer to a problem, I'm quite likely to receive profuse thanks.

However if I spend a couple of hours researching travel options for someone or, as I have done, drive to the other side of the county in the early hours of the morning to find out an answer, the chances of any type of response are minimal. (An American ABer, to whom I provided a guided tour of Paris for a day, didn't exactly go overboard with his thanks either!)
Odd to ask a question and say you won’t respond. I’d have to sit on my hands to not respond to a question I’d asked.

Yes, Chris. I’ve been amazed at some of the lengths you go to to advise folk and get nothing back but I guess it helps others which is good for the site.
I enjoy reading posts, I respond to my posts. I'm not very knowledgeable to answer many subjects.

I should have added I do very much appreciate answers to my posts. Recently some very helpful/ encouraging answers too. Thanks to all who answered
I'm arrogant and ignorant, but I'm polite enough to thank those that help me.
Doesn't take much effort to show appreciation.
off topic - suddenly I'm getting all the blooming adverts!

understanding the annoyance others have previously expressed.
Then start your own thread Dave.
nah
I'll play along.

Are "blooming adverts" from plant sellers?
I will always say 'Thank you' for any help received but I am not really bothered either way if I don't receive an acknowledgement for any help, minimal though it usually is, which I am able to give. What I don't like is being given 'Best answer'. The older I get the more convinced I am that we are on this earth to help each other when we can and that being helpful is its own reward.

Buenchico and Gness, I said I wouldn't respond as I was shutting down my PC to go to sleep. I didn't want anyone to think I was being rude by not answering back. But I do thank you and everyone else who took the time to answer my query.

I don't mind getting "best answer" & I do appreciate it when someone thanks me for an answer. It's just common courtesy I think.

I think so too Davebro.

Manners also makes 'smear'. Just saying. :-)

I hope BA will make up for your long awaited aknowledgement Vulcan :-)
Yeah - sometimes you think - HEY, my answer was better! But it's the OP's choice.
