Good morning, I’m quite pleased to report that La Jerezana put my struggles at an end with a very very Matakari-friendly puzzle. I thoroughly enjoyed it, did not have to seek hints, and it left me feeling hungry for more. I got the theme early and was looking forward to having some bouillabaisse, too! Just one clue almost upset my record, 8d, but I persevered and finally got to know about boxfish. Hoping that this is a new and felicitous beginning for me and Spectator!

Great to hear that, Matakari - I was hoping you'd return to form at some point!

PS I don't understand the reference to boxfish re 8 D?

Question Author

Whew, I hope I haven’t gone astray with this one, NACW?
8d    Wrong half of horny reptile (4) : T?R?
( Got TORO = A cowfish, boxfish… )

tort!

tort(oise)?

It seem sbetter than toro to me- I can't see how that would work at all- where would 'wrong half' fit in?

tort is synonym for wrong, tort is half of tortoise

Question Author

Ok, yes, tort is more logical! There goes my record! Thanks, all!

Thanks, Matakari - I felt you must have gone astray, but was fervently hoping you hadn't!

Thanks, others.

I've finished but can't make out how the title relates to unclued answers.

Piffpoff, you might have got it by now, but in case you haven't: a short word for 'thus' followed by something that means 'at an end' eg, 'your time is....'

I was part of the way there thinkg thus = so, but dismissed it. The penny hadn't dropped on the UP part. DOH! 🙄 Thanks.
