Katakana and kanji are both writing systems in Japanese - not words for nanny !

No offence was intended shaneystar2 -

As you can see I've been unable to find a romanized Japanese translation, like you I could only find the Japanese characters for nanny.

I think quizzwhizz may need to visit a library or bookshop to find a Japanese dictionary.

I can't find anything at all ! I just looked at that site and obviously didn't read it properly !
I think they call them perhaps ..something ..San ?

There are some download programs - But i presume again these would give you the Japanese characters.

I did actually begin to learn Japanese a couple of years ago, that's how I knew about katakana, but I quickly gave up.!

My BBC Japanese starter book does actually have a small dictionary in it, but no translation for nanny, unfortunately.

And I got a U in O Level French - So I'm not trying to brag about my language skills, either !
