What does everyone think about the ridiculous entry dates for the MOS Gk and Lancelot Crosswords 12/10/07? With the postal strike -even if you posted tomorrow (Tuesday) as I intend to do, with the backlog they will have there's no guarantee they will get their by Friday. I posted a Special Delivery on Sat and was told there was no guarantee of that gettin to person by end this week!!!
The Sun. Express is even worse it has to be there by Thursday!! Whilst it is not the most important thing in the world to get crossword answers anywhere, people & businesses waiting for cheques must wonder how they are going to keep their cash-flow in place. I suppose they could invite e-mail answers like " Take a Break" or " Real People" magazines do.
I agree with the notion of sending entries by email.
It is now possible to create a grid inline so that answers could be submitted direct.
However, we all do this for fun don't we? So let's not get too worked up and hope that the strike is concluded soon.
I just do any crossword for the sheer pleasure I get out of testing myself against the setter. After winning the Times Saturday puzzle 5 times, I gave up sending in completed grids! (I also never cashed the book tokens either - they went to my favourite charity, The Army Benevolent Fund).
