Much appreciated. Thanks. Haven't looked at it yet, so can't answer your question!
Thanks for the link, Midazolam.

.........well some people might think they are!

a nice touch to have real words with & without X

i presume there is nothing extra writing the word under the grid as there is no box to put it in
Thanks for the very early posting. Have just transferred the solution to the grid in "Seven" magazine where there is a line under the grid for the final word. Now off to a christening --- which would have taken a great deal chunk out of EV-solving time otherwise.
Not bad but the Earth did not move.... :0)
True Rapparee, the earth did not move ...but it is, nonetheless, one 'ell of a crossword.
Have all the answers, 9 with a missing L, but cannot see how 4 components fit into 3 lights. I don't have access to Chambers 2003 - is there another source that might assist please ?
Mysterons'

In 5 across answers L, which is clued, is removed before entering. In 4 down answers it is not clued but has to be added before entry. Hope that helps you to resolve the dilemma.

Not sure of the site but I believe you can find Chambers on-line somewhere. Failing that there are various on-line dictionaries.
Hi Novalis !

Had sussed the business with the Ls, but still struggling to see how to complete the unclued lights. I do have an (older) copy of Chambers - can you direct me to where I should be looking please ? Thank you !
Sorry Mysterons,

Realised during my morning jog what you were asking. The unclued answer is given in Chambers 1998 and, presumably earlier versions. Try Cas.,,, ( Capital C ) and look at the comments above about the earth not moving ( and think of the activity associated with that....!!! ) 25a contains two of the four parts of the full answer.
Thanks for that Novalis !

I had sussed his first name, but was slightly confused by the appearance of name after the X in the first line of the preamble - presumably this is a typo ?

Anyway, it's good to complete the 4 cells I was missing, thanks again !
