How do you do it Midazolam? I am finidng the grid filling very difficult and had (almost) decided to give up - but, encouraged by your comment that it was quick to do, am slogging on and making (some) headway.
A nice lot of clues: I found the bottom half of the grid easier than the top. I was left feeling buoyant after the first part of the thematic manipulations, but have still to complete the final part.
The newcomers are making progress - six gaps in our words and an incomplete set of (obviously related) extra words. It is heavy going for us and we haven't got our four-word phrase yet, for our thematic manipulations. We would appreciate a hint about a lady and first man, (we thought she was glam, but she clearly isn't) and about a well stocked land - if that isn't giving too much away.
Robinruth, 22d is one of the clues that has an intrusive word that has misled you over the first letter of the answer. It's hard to hint at 2d: it's (to me, at least) a very novel clue, but quantities are parts.
