As I'm posting on here, I won't be entering! I'll find out the answers next week anyway, but one clue in particular has got me intrigued. 12 a The skill on putting on Pinafore? (10). Pinafore is in italics -what does that signify? What sprang to mind was putting on a production of HMS Pinafore or putting on a pinafore having something to do with cooking. Quite happy not be told the answer to the clue , just to have the significance of the italics explained.

Argh -the skill of (not on)
I don't do this crossword and haven't seen it.
However, I believe I have solved the clue and as a result I can tell you that it has absolutely nothing to do with an item of clothing or cooking and everything to do with HMS Pinafore. BUT, the name of the vessel is not relevant - it could equally have been Bounty or Titanic (though in that case, it would have been a lack of this art).
Stagecraft (craft=ship=Pinafore)
