EV 857 Exactly by Lato

Hello EV Wine Clubbers,
Struggled with this for a while, but have populated the grid. All entries fully justified, although I had a bit of a problem with the definition of 41a, until I read "Our beloved Book" properly. However am still wondering about how the "unclued entry (of three words, (the answer to which I found sneaky)) explains exactly where the ten others" could go! Any thoughts!
Tempranillo again tonight! I'll not use my usual goodbye in case it ruins 38d

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hello DocHH et al, Sorry not to have checked in last weekend, too busy gallivanting!. I reckoned the 3 word unclued entry could be taken as an instruction on where to go to find all the other unclued entries.i.e. they" could all go there". I think a refreshing Pinot Grigio tonight will help to round off the weekend.
Help. Just come home eager to start EV to discover that the Telegraph Crossword Society has yet again failed to put this week's EV on the site and is still showing last week's. Anyone able to send me a copy? My email address is [email protected]
Hello all. Not made a start yet as point to pointing yesterday. Did manage to open the Gran Reserva in celebration of our 2nd place in Yorkshire's big race, but only 4 horses ran! Well, we're counting it as a win since the jockey that won it won the Foxhunter's at Aintree last week. Might get some time today if mini PG obliges....
Hi everybody!
Didn't get the crossword until this morning ( a long story ) but have completed most of the grid. I've still a gap at the three letter unclued answer, am not sure about my answer for 36d ( which I think is defined by the first two words of the clue ) and that is making me doubt the last across unclued answer ( 4 letter word in the bottom right corner ). Beyond that I've absolutely no idea about the unclued three word phrase ( of which, I assume, my missing three letter word is a part ) let alone its relevance. I've lost the will to live and all confidence in solving EVs.
Glad your horse ran well Physicsgirl. The main thing is that it got back safe and sound.
One point that I'm sure you've all picked up on --- Chambers 2008 is now the recommended favourite book.

Good evening everyone, only 11 N & C's? Are you all suffering from the same malaise as me? Have not looked at this week's yet, some how after last week it lacks importance, not a wine week either, a definate case for extremely stiff G & T's (has to be supermarket bog-standard too, no Hendrick's, Tanquary or Plymouth to hand!)
Did manage to finish last week's by Friday (by lunch-time and 2pm is merely showing off Novalis & DocHH) and considering I had never heard of either the perp. or his law I feel I had done my bit.
Will perhaps have a look after the trek up the wooden hill tonight but do not have high hopes if CC's have had difficulties.
Well done in the point to point Physicsgirl, got mini PG 'up' yet? We have an invite to our local P to P on Sat but if it is raining shall possibly give it a miss! Hospitality tent not withstanding.
Don't buy too much ringer, you might go into overdrive - though I have to tell you that I fell in love (deeply and absolutely) with a Prada bag in Harrogate the other week, totally unjustifiable as only an evening bag and although I may be ******** (sometimes) I am not stupid, too many years of scrimping - ooooh, but it was lovely! Do NOT curl your lips DocHH & other gents..............................

Hi Novalis.
A little hint:
The 36d definition is the last five words of the clue, not the first two. It eventually came to me, but it is not in my ( old )edition of Chambers.
The three letter word - which is not where you think it is - is clever, but I thought it was a little unfair. But even with that solved I also have no idea as to the connection, if any, with the other ten answers.

Hello Everyone
Novalis 36d is an acronym, and as Rollo's certainly not in my Chambers, it is frequently worn by the younger element of society as an honour!! Cryptically it is defined by the first first 4 words of the clue. BTW rethink the last 4 squares of the across lights, then you might have it EXACTLY!
Rollo, now you have the 3 word unclued entry, be guided by that and go to Chambers as directed! All will be explained. It also resolves the possible anomolies on the 10 unclued lights.
Devadolly, like you I was surprised at the lack of replies, was concerned I was using the wrong deodorant.. Hope the ascent up the wooden stairs, presumably with Ginger Mog, prompts some progress with Ev. As you say, last weeks perp was more in my field than yours. As for handbags and acoutrements, herself buys whatever she wants! Fortunately she is not extravagant, and like me has today done this years ISA allowance!
Ringer, hope you were revived by the retail therapy and returned to EV refreshed.
Copelander, your hint was helpful, and PhysicsGirl, hope minipg allows you to get back to this and flex those grey cells!
I'll not use my usual Italian goodbye, don't want to upset your resolution of 38d, so
Adios.
