Ornis ?
Yes it's Ornis ... contained in clue.
Could someone please explain where "West Country" fits in with "ornis"? I must be having a (nother) slow day today, but I just don't get it.

Thanks Sarumite & Mctavish. Got my Saga yesterday Sarumite. Having got Ornis I now have one wrong. Clue is "Dam unable to stop water" (5) I had thought it was Nappe but now it is N - O - E. Only noose seems to fit but does not seem to make sense with the clue.

Hi Bookbinder. In Chambers "Ornis" says "the birds collectively of a region". I guess they are intimating that the West Country is a region!
Thanks, maxymax, for your help.
Niobe maybe.

A devastated Niobe fled back to Mount Sipylus and was turned into stone, and, as she wept unceasingly, waters started to pour from her petrified complexion
