My purse is twitching

There's a furniture shop down the road from work called Abode. When the posty came he accidently gave us something meant for them so like a good neighbour I popped down there to give it to them.

The car park was oddly heaving and when I walked in it occurred to me that's because they are having a closing down sale. I walked around for a couple of minutes and now all I want to do is go back and spend a fortune. It's all gorgeous oak furniture and loads of lovely little decorative bits. All up to half price. I can't normally afford to shop there.

Now, I could tell myself that if I go back and take my purse with me I'll end up making myself poor for the rest of the month or I could take it as fate that the posty left me a letter meant for them and that it happened to be pay day yesterday.

To spend or not to spend? That is the question.

need or want
I'd suggest yes, you treat yourself to something but make sure you haggle. If they are closing down they will be amenable to bartering. Good luck.
Spend, definitely, or you will regret missing the bargains. I know what I am talking about!!

Well, I need a bedside table. If there is such a thing as a 'need' for that sort of thing.

The place was packed Mrs_O. All the staff were working on the tills so I don't think I'd get a chance to try and haggle and with the queue back to the doors they'd probably tell me to sod off as someone else will just buy it at the asking price.
I agree with mrsoverall, for some reason fate pr coincidence led you to a place where you can afford beautiful items you normally can't.
Have you worked hard in your life? Have you at times put others before yourself?
Then go ahead, buy what you like and don't you dare feel guilty afterwards.
do you really need it? will it fit into, fit in with you're decor?

If no, then buy something small, vase or whatever, just to ease
'the need to spend' lol xx
I hear what you say Evian, but I would still ask for the manager, flutter my eyelashes and haggle.
Mind you, I am from Yorkshire where bartering is ingrained in the soul lol
An old adage is.... 'it's only a bargain if you need it'
"wonders if the resulting gale from the fluttering of eyelashes is what really gets mrs o the discount*
lol@madcatwoman ;-)
The staff are scared of the two black spiders stuck to her eyelids..

That's sort of the problem ChiChi. If you put the entire contents of my house in there you'd think it was just part of the show room.

Maybe I'll go and get some cash out, take them with me and leave my card in the office so I can't be tempted to spend over a certain amount.

And then if I see something bigger I want I can try and find someone to haggle with (where I won't be able to just pay the full price there and then).
...you don't argue with a 6ft goth in marigolds ...
You can dave....but you would live to regret it
< and, for the avoidance of doubt, we all know that Mrs O is actually a sweet little Audrey Hepburn lookalike >

[ OK - you can stop twisting my arm now ... and the other bits ]
I wouldn't dream of threatening you or twisting any fleshy bits.
Just remember the weekend episode is coming up and the pen is mightier than the sword....
Go ahead and treat yourself Evian, it is fate and if you go overdrawn you can always blame the postman.
Yeah well be nice to the staff - remember they're probably losing their jobs and they're having to try to stay professional with a flood of vultures fighting over the bones
do you need them?

and/or can you make money selling the furniture you will need to move to get them in?
To spend or not to spend is indeed the question. Do you need - or just want - any of the items offered at half price? Very tempting, but maybe you could just treat yourself to a few little decorative bits and not break the bank for the rest of the month. What's the address of this shop???? ♥
