Recently it has come to our attention that some members are regularly asking for spare Mail Rewards Club numbers. While the terms and conditions from the Daily Mail say that purchase is required, we also don't like to see anything go to waste. So we're asking members of The AnswerBank:

also, if your number is genuinely missing, you can phone up and answer a brief question about the paper/magazine and they give you a number straight away!

I'm surprised at the split actually. I imagined it would lean more heavily in one direction.

At the time of writing there's only ten votes between the Ayes and the Neighs (in the favour of the Neighs).
Horses for courses, Ed...
That is what happens in a straw poll.
no
If you are a Mail Rewards Club Card holder, if your Saturday or Sunday Mail has the numbers card missing, you can get two lots of numbers a month from the Rewards Club by keying into their site and following their instructions. I did this once recently and it was as simple as ABC to do.
no.
No
Sharing is caring, as my grandson tells me when he wants something I've got.
If one purchases a paper and the reward card isn't present then an opportunity exists in the system for a reward Number to be added without physically having a card. This opportunity can only be used twice in an eight week period. I have actually had to use this twice in the last four weeks. If in the next four weeks I purchase a paper with the Reward card missing then I will have to forego a number for that particular issue. I'd like to think that if I'm unlucky enough to be in this position again that I would be able to ask on Answerbank for a spare number that wasn't being used by a fellow user.
I personally don't have a problem with users asking for an unused number though I understand why some may find it galling.
Yes Merlin, very galling. One user on here has asked 10 questions and every one has been requesting code numbers.
Then there is my example whereby I missed ONE paper and asked for the first and only time..........
Answers to crosswords/quizzes should also not be shared.
It's cheating/theft/fraud
You are joking? How do you learn, if not from exchanging information?
↑↑ that'd negate the use of AB, as this is a Q&A site for quizes & puzzles*

As well as the link on the web site for missing numbers there is a phone number on the page where the card should be, when you ring you have to have paper to hand as they ask what is on a specific page. I've used this phone number a couple of times when my card has been missing.
There are always who will exploit the good nature of ABer's.
In the time since the rewards club started I have had my unique number missing FIVE times!!! They have introduced a way to verify that you've bought the paper but only allow twice(I think) in a six week collecting period.
I have said yes as I have been helped out by my fellow ABer's.
I've taken the Mail on Saturday and Sunday for years and only last week decided to start collecting the numbers as a result of constantly seeing requests on here.

I voted no, because I think the purchase should be made to gain the numbers. If for some reason I missed out on one day, or forgot to check them, I'd just shrug my shoulders and accept the loss.
Anyone else wish to vote?
How long does the vote last?

chrissa1 - it's not imperative to collect the 1500 points in six consecutive weekends, you can do it over eight weekends. So if you miss the odd number, no harm is done, it will just take another week to get your reward. Maybe other people don't realize that all is not lost if they miss out on one number here and there.
