The clue to 109 across is Veteran BBC journalist (8) the answer is Kate Adie (4,4), I wonder if it is worthwhile completing crossword or will it be yet another daily record crossword that will void (as has happened a few times with the big one on a Tuesday.

Surely they wouldn't void it if people can get the answers in logically by completing the rest of the grid? Would they do that?

Twinkle_uk. yes they have done in the past, in fact it was just recently too, that's how I like to check with them first rather than wait to open the next weeks paper to find out it was void.

no 12d = Goodbye and 21a=Shepherd
it's just 109 a letter count is wrong and 37d may come into question too. (tribe,triad,twins) anyone may fit ,depends what answer they have on the solution in front of them.

yes I asked about 37d as well, also told them again, that the clues the compiler gives at times could have sometimes 2 suitable answers and this week even three, take for example last week clue invaded (is it overran or overrun) as overran is past tense to overrun but the answer they wanted was overrun ???????

I know, sometimes it's difficult to understand exactly how they want them answered

and the other was blAther or blEther, both mean the same . what answer do you want?

With those clues where answers can be (overran/overrun)( blether/blather), they should accept either as answers

but that's it, they don't, she told me whatever answer is on the solution in front of her is the answer she has to accept, that is why i started to just lift the phone and ask, they don't open all the crosswords just to see if anyone has put an note in or not, you must phone or write in if you have a complaint.

good, if you phone it just lets her know there may be a problem, and then she checks up on it really.
