MM Links October 2012 Week 3

“Lady Jill” here again. Which one, do I hear you ask? The miser, as in Week 1, or the munificent one who showers you with points as in Week 2? Now, there’s a question…
Last week’s theme was a touch nostalgic; this time I’m coming up to date and thinking about all of us who play the MM Links game. Reading our setters’ preambles over the last couple of years I’ve been struck by the extraordinary range of interests of everyone here. We could be any age from under 30 to 90+; hints dropped from time to time suggest that advancing years are no barrier to developing old hobbies and taking up new ones. Travel, of course: from pole to pole with almost every country in between. We are artistic - photography is one of our favourites – and crafty (in one sense at least!): there are knitters, cross-stitchers, embroiderers. Obviously we do puzzles of every sort, including crosswords of different shapes, sizes and content. And of course we love sports, whether as players, umpires or watchers. Together we must add up to the ideal model of how to spend leisure time.
For the record, I fall into the photography (landscapes usually), knitting (Christmas puddings at the moment), crosswords (with a preference for cryptic) and golf-watching (The Belfry is my nearest major course) categories.
