I've never even considered giving the postlady a Christmas box (and I've never heard of anyone doing so).
I don't have newspapers or magazines delivered but, if I did, I would probably give the delivery person a Christmas box if they were still at school. (A lot of newspapers seem to be delivered by adults these days who, presumably, are getting at least the National Minimum Wage - whereas youngsters who deliver them get far less).
No chimney - hence no coalman.
My windows stay uncleaned (or possibly get a once a year wipe over from me if they're within reach).
However I did give a tin of Rose's to the staff at the launderette which I use.

No, never have. No one tips me for earning a living lol.
Seriously though, dustmen used to really earn their living having to lift heavy steel bins full of peoples dirt and grime, its much easier these days and in these times of recycling we do most of the work for them. They only seem to push the wheelie bins up to the trucks 'lift' and press a button - in the words of Gordon Ramsey 'DONE' :) - I do remember my parents tipping the coal man, milk man, paper lad.

When my husband was alive we tipped everyone who called, the postman, the binmen and the paperboy, or girl as the case may have been. We took a load of tins of biscuits to the surgery and gave one tin to each of the receptionists and the nurses, also a large tin of chocolates to the pharmacy. Now that I have moved there is no-one to give to. I haven't got to know anyone yet and I am not sure if the postie is regular or not, so I will have to forego it for this year and see what happens by next year.
