Thanks for all of these. It was actually French toast, the question being Parisian smuggled into a stew. I just didn't think the compiler would have two such similar answers. Maybe I'm wrong!

I think Toast and French Toast could both be used a s answers. However, are you sure of the French Toast answer? I don't see the 'smuggled in stew' bit

Thanks, fact-or-fiction. I'm struggling to justify it myself now. I think I decided that getting into a stew was similar to being toasted but that doesn't explain smuggled. Will concentrate now on that one and accept toast as the answer to my original question. Very grateful
