Good evening and welcome to all those who have sailed or waded through flood waters, trudged through snow, and been buffeted by stormy winds to join us at Nungate Towers this Saturday. For those few, that happy few unaffected by the weather in their journey here tonight, you too are most welcome.
As we are still in Olympic mode, tonight's Tailcock will be the "Gold Medal" (as worn by that intrepid slider Lizzie Yarnold - very well done!!)
On the hot plate tonight we have, Potage Bonne Femme, ( despite good women being hard to find these days, we managed!) There is also a Minced beef hotpot on the hot plate, just the thing for the cold and wet weather, hot and hearty being the order of the day) Of course there will also be the customary, volly vonts, canopies and horses doovers. On the pudding trolley there is a delicious steamed jam sponge, with custard or cream (Oh dear, I seem to have gained another couple of pounds!)
Our entertainment tonight comes in the shape of our favourite band the Tone Deafs and tonight they will be playing a selection of golden oldies (feel free to request any song you like) and as always, up in the gallery in the Great Hall, the Minstrels are busily tuning up their usual repertoire of madrigals and toccattas.
Owing to the high winds (thankfully now abating) it has been decided that the bungee will remain out of action until Spring as will the hot tub, which has been relocated to the dungeons by the indoor swimming pool, naturally the mini bar has accompanied the hot tub to its new location.
Still in use however is the ski slope and the ice rink, and we have also added a toboggan run! We have provided the necessary sliding equipment
and safety gear.
For those members who may experience difficulty in returning home this evening, please be aware that the guest suites are available and ready to use. All amenities are available for members, the library has a vast collection books, magazines and periodicals, the latest edition of "Theoretical Physics for Beginners" has just arrived, as well as the Valentines issue of "Cow Punchers" weekly. The games room is fully equipped with most games, tables have also been set up for card games (please note that gambling is illegal within the confines of the Towers) Our fully equipped gym has a new personal trainer in the shape of that former all in wrestler Fearless Freddie, scourge of the Kirkcaldy Crochet Guild.
Igor will be on hand at the main entrance for the concealment of all cloaks, coats and broomsticks, (the safe return of which is never guaranteed)

You're better than I Daisy, my mobile sits in my handbag in the hall cupboard most of the time and is almost never switched on! Rarely put credit on it either - I have a pay as you go I was told it was the best for me as I'm not a big user of mobiles.

We are alike! Poor Violet dreads when I get my suitcase out. Travelling is when she has to work hardest, sometimes on Southampton station she just refuses to co-operate. She likes going through the New Forest as she knows there is no signal.

My mobile Norman also likes hiding, however I usually find him skulking in the glove box or the armrest in my car, he'll have to start and find some more original places to hide.

My mobile hasn't got a name.....I really miss my old one! They made me get a new one! I'm sure the chap in the shop in Edinburgh could have given my lovely old one a bit of a refurb, it had little ducks on it's screen when you turned it off, the new one is fine but there's no ducks!

From time to time I can hear Violet giggling and just about demolish the living room trying to find her. Hoping to get away to Bournemouth for a few days next week (half term) so she had better be on her best behaviour.

Ah, but Daisy, phones never behave on a train.

It was a siemens Tony, it felt very comfortable in the hand, it just fitted somehow. The little ducks appeared when the phone was switched off, it was a mother duck followed by her ducklings walk across the screen at switch off

Another Gold Medal, please, Igor - one is just an appetiser. I'm hoping for a Spitz (older readers will be able to work it out... ...).

A plate of hotpot would also go down nicely, but I'm afraid the children are using the trays on the toboggan run - can't think where they got the idea.

Think Violet is getting on a bit. Perhaps it is time to let her retire and get someone younger. Would have to be pay as she goes though. Not enough work to keep one fully occupied.

I still have it Tony, one of these days I just might take up to the man on North Bridge in Edinburgh and see if he can do something with it - I had it for years and years!

I really didn't want to change my phone at all Daisy I was forced into it, and I found it hard to find a pay as you go one, let alone one I quite liked.
Everyone seems to be wanting smart phones these days, I didn't and still don't. I think I've have three mobile phones since I bought my first one back when Queenie was around 10 or so, this one is my fourth, I've lost count of how many she's had since she left school!
