The words do cross each other as in a crossword but someone might have seen this before?

Is this a mistake?
the pangram is Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the lazy dog

You need "jumps" to get the "S". However it is often quoted as
"Quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog"

The above almost pangram has 6,5,5,4,4,3,3,3

I think that's because it's a cross word, so as clues overlap they will share a letter.

It threw me too.
