Many thanks to the Answerbank and Oddbods Fundraising Quizzes for publicizing the quiz. Again, as expected, entries were countrywide. Due to an ongoing computer malfunction and the lockdown we have had problems communicating but have managed to come up with the results. Thirty two people had the exact answers meaning we had to draw three lucky winners to share the prize. Many familiar names featured amongst the unlucky 29. A further 73 lost one point. Many thanks to those generous people who included an additional donation. This assumes a greater importance this year as Macmillan income will drop dramatically due to the current crisis. (The 2019 Quiz raised £1,396)

Well done to those winners.
I will ask this question again in section 3 full answers were required but then not included in the answers given. Is this the reason there were more all corrects this time?
Can you explain which answers in section 3 you th8nk are wrong?
Section 3 answers look like full answers to me.

Can you be more specific Grumpy?
Alder Hey should include Children’s Hospital and the proper name of Little Buttercup is Mrs Cripps Little Buttercup. Also it’s surely Red Maple leaf.
I see what you are getting at but presumably the answers above are deemed sufficiently full and no one who gave more information would be penalised.
I’m not carping about who has won and indeed I was all correct. However two years ago,the first time I entered,I gave a couple of answers similar to those given here and when the answers were published they contained one or two words more than mine.Last year I was one of only about a dozen all corrects having remembered my omissions from the previous year.So my argument is we don’t really know what full answers means.
I understand, maybe drop a line to the setter for some clarification.
Have done but as yet no reply.

Re the queries about the word 'full' in Section 3.
The question required trees and flowers in the answer.
Full is included to prevent people giving just the thematic element, e.g. 29th May - oak is the thematic element but the clue leads to Oak Apple Day. Re Alder Hey - children’s hospital is in the question; Little Buttercup is listed in the “Dramatis Personae” and addressed as “Little Buttercup” throughout the operetta. This fits the clue as a complete answer as, for some strange reason known to W S Gilbert, Mrs Cripps name only appears in the libretto and score when having a speaking or singing part. If you gave additional information you were not penalised. Regarding the number of correct answers - that can only be due to the quiz not being as demanding. Please remember that this meant to be a fun quiz and, more importantly the quizmaster’s decision is ultimately final. I am sure some people will think it unfair that they were marked down by omitting definite and indefinite articles in the literary section or by spelling errors but we have to narrow the field. It also notes that competitors should not correspond but you have made numerous queries,
prior to the closing date, which can be considered, by some, as unfair.

Thanks for that clear reply LittleBee.
My intention,Little Bee,was not to gain any advantage but to clarify what was meant as a full answer.I remember last year a question on Tintin.Answer Captain Haddock (wrong)
Captain Archibald Haddock (correct). Thanks for your reply.
