i have put tattie for 3d but the best i can come up for 9a is ormer.

where have i gone wrong?

23 down is ORPHAN. Anyone else noticed that entries have to be in by Wednesday now, so can't use second class stamps! Also, how will they pick the winner of the Xmas Dickens crossword when entries were not to be marked any differently, and two other crosswords have been set in the meantime??

23d is supposed to be ORHAN I agree, but if you check the following link, the clue should have been referring to the top of the page. i.e the last line of the paragraph detached from the previous page. The typesetting name for the start of a paragraph at the bottom of the page should have been WIDOW.

No wonder us lesser mortals get confused!
