She married Carl Dean in 1966 forty years ago.

Q. Is Dolly married?
A. Dolly has been married to her "mystery man" husband Carl Dean since May of 1966. Despite the fact that she is such a public figure, he prefers his anonymity and is rarely seen in public. Dolly goes out and sings and acts and promotes, and Carl works and resides at thier Nashville home. Dolly says that because they are apart so often, many feelings build, and when they actually do get to see each other, it makes it extra special -- that's what keeps thier marriage alive.
