but can't quite see how you make 4 Burnham can't see the relevance to sinking - perhaps I'm being a bit thick - I'll think about it a bit more while I get on with the gardening!

Before you go any further wendyl, you need to check the meaning of several obscure words in a Chambers Dictionary - such as ley, bourne, hastings, etc.

You will need some of these , but perhaps not all are needed! Good Luck!

I remember hearing that those setting the Matlock quizzes rely on Chambers dictionary - unfortunately I do not have access to one and it does not appear to be accessible online - perhaps you can advise differently?

wendyl I suppose that any good dictionary would do - however from Chambers we find:

ley = open country - meadow, pasture, or arable

bourne = boundary, limit, or goal

These ought to help a little

I have the same answer for nos 15 and 98 are there duplicate answers as in the last one?
Does Chambers have alternative words for cliff?

Hi wendyl. Over the weekend it was too wet for me to garden! I should be catching up with the weeds in a couple of days!

As for your questions, you should geta great deal of help from my earlier clue re channel 4.

Q17 is quite clever. Start by finding a general term that covers fish, crabs, lobsters, mussels etc.

You don't really need the same answer for Q15 and Q98.Don't forget that you have Poole, Liverpool and Blackpool to name but three "pools" or "puddles".

Finally, Chambers has the obscure word CLEVE for cliff!

I just sent a message to say now have 64
also managed 17 at weekend with a clue from my son
re 15 and 98 I will take another look and choose different places
the cleve word will also solve another
pity you had rain at weekend we didn't but did have a blip with PC refusing to connect to server
shocking to rely on it so but now back on track
