A while ago teacher1 asked how old the ABers are and the range seems to be between 17 and 79. A few ABers have referred recently to life outside the UK and I was curious as to where everyone is - and who is furthest away from me.
I know that Bedford is not the centre of the universe but still curious.
I live in Kent, right on the south east coast in Folkestone but originally from Ashton under Lyne, so a Lancashire lass.
My age, that information is not for the public domain.
Hello there
I just signed on this morning Canadian time so I think if you give us overseas folks some time you'll get more replies - we're either way behind you timewise or so far ahead that it's the middle of the night.
I live in south-western Ontario where we broke the weather record yesterday by reaching 48C. Stay cool you lovely lot in Surrey, Kent, Norfolk and all points east, west, south and north.
Good morning to you all.
I live in Surrey - no other ABers from here so far I see - and have done so for the past 40 years. Heading towards my 60th next year. I love doing crosswords, especially cryptic ones, but i am often behind eveyone else with the weekend ones as Sundays are often taken up with visiting family. Very interesting reading all the responses, what a good idea to ask the question ageing fast.
Hi ageing fast, you knew I'd catch up with this post eventually - yes, still here in sunny [for the time being] Adelaide.
It's 12.30pm so I imagine most are tucked up for the night, but I'm just finishing up my weekly telegraph GK.
As to the furthest, I'd hazard a guess that mohill who lives in NZ is probably furthest - but as I only know him through cyberspace I can't say anymore.
well, back to the grindstone - cheers to all -Steff
Born in Portsmouth but due to family military connections have lived in Egypt- time of Suez crisis,Malta, Tripoli , Bulford,Catterick,Hull,Isle of Wight and Petersfield.
Childhood & schooldays in Kent- where were you at school Shaneystar? have now lived in North Yorkshire for nearly 20 years. and I'm between 17 and 79
Hi! I am from Auckland in NZ. I don't appear all that frequently on AB because of the time differences. Nearly all of the questons are asked and answered while I am sleeping but I appreciate the contact and help I get when I need it.
We have driven through Bedford a few times but it always been while I was heading to somewhere else. One of these days, maybe, we'll get the chance to make another trip to England, and will try to spend time in some places unfamiliar to us.
Hi granny grump ...I went to Fort Pitt in Chatham ..wonderful school ...overlooking the Medway ..built on the site of one of the old napoleonic forts...and was a hospital during the Crimean and 1st World War.Became a girls school round about the 1920's ..I was there in the early 60's though !
I live in beautiful North Yorkshire, Gods own country. Born and bred in West Yorkshire so quite a contrast to when I lived there. Been up here nearly 10 years and loving it. I am in mid fifties and only recently discovered AB. Love the cameraderie and sometimes the "tickings off" to people being arrogant or abusing our generosity. Glad to be one of the gang.
Hi shaneystar I went to Sititngbourne Grammar, but used to go to Chatham to take my piano exams - my husband did his basic trainin there. Sounds like a lot of history attached to your school
What a small world ! One of my old school friends ..we have been friends for forty seven years .. lives in Tunstall just outside Sittingbourne. My Dad and my eldest brother worked in the Chatham dockyard.Fort Pitt was a wonderful school apart from the awful hats we were forced to wear !
