Thought 3Ac must be bench press & saying seemed like the only solution for 8D, but why?
A saw is a saying; maxim; proverb: EG. He could muster an old saw for every occasion.

Well, all I can say is a big thankyou to you all. Having won the 1st & 2nd Prize for The Sunday Times Xword, getting one's hands on �20 for Saturday's must be quite an achievement!!
