While I echo the welcome return of a Mepham to the Tel crossword pages, am I alone in thinking that some of the clues and answers are really a bit naff (this morning especially) ? -

Quite, gardenmad, we ARE all entitled to our opinions. It's when people start saying "Shame on you" that I feel they are trying to form my opinions for me!

My husband tells me that men say things to and about each other that women would be aghast at. He says I should mind my own business and keep my opinions to myself. I apologise unreservedly to anyone I may have upset. I am so glad that I have "met" some of you - and I thank the ones who kept silent.

Er ... finally. My impression is that all the people who use this site are rather gentle and helpful. For the record, Gardenmad, we have a family member off to Afghanistan in a fortnight ... and your comments actually were spot on. We're a bunch of moaners when we have a crossword before us that doesn't quite suit us ... because we have high standards.
