I have just received a letter from Saga Magazine, informing me that I was a runner-up for the February Crossword, and will receive a Bloomsbury Concise English Dictionary. I must therefore pass on my thanks to my fellow ABers, who, by the answers they have given to others, have helped me achieve this.I try to solve as many clues as I can , without seeking help, and this win has spurred me on to hope for the 'biggy' !!!
Very well done to both NILYA and rccatnap . . How many runners up prizes are there? I sent in my first Saga Crossword (March) last week, but it only indicates one prize of 100 for the winning entry.
Thank you all for your comments, and congratulations to my fellow runner-up,rccatnap.
I have just looked at my magazine, and found that there are, in fact, fourteen runners-up prizes.
The first four runners-up receive an electronic Chambers
Concise Crossword Dictionary from Franklin.
The next ten receive a Bloomsbury Concise English Dictionary.
So, sarumite, your chances are increased further!!! Good luck.
Thanks for the information NILYA, but where is it shown? Under the March Prize Crossword on page 206 it simply says that the first correct answer selected wins 100.
Last August I received the electronic dictionary and then in September I received the Bloomsbury Dictionary. Would I be too greedy in hoping to win the first prize sometime? Anyway I can't resist in submitting my crossword solution.
Good luck to everyone.
mangar, congratulations on pulling off two out of three
prizes, on consecutive months, too!!!
I had to do a double-take when I saw your user-name, as it was the name that my nephews and nieces used instead of 'grandma' for my late mother-in-law.They still use it when they talk about her.
