I know nothing about cricket so would appreciate 18D. I've taken an educated guess at 1 down and I think it's correct so won't bug you for that one.

I have discovered re 4 down that EAS is waterfall and I think (from previous crossies) that na is 'a' or 'an' so we just need the first word. I was going to say Ben but isn't a ben a mountain? And here we are looking for a glen.

I see that kulatron has kindly given you the answer to 18d Ont-ice, and although your not living in a cricketing country, I imagine you have got Spin Bowler for 1d.

Apparently the Gaelic word "Bun" means - the bottom or end of anything, but have not yet been able to tie things up.

I too was going to ask about 4 down - doubtless a Gaelic expression for the Wicklow glen through which the River Vartry (not Vartray) flows.

Also stuck with 19 across - the Ouse landing place. I have E?R?T?

On 33 down there is a bit of a schoolboy howler with the first word of the clue.

Have also spent some hours frantically googling for 4d. Best I've come up with is this "Allt Bun an Eas - (The) mouth (of the) stream or burn and waterfall. MacLeod translates as the same" - but no tie in with the the river Vartry, nor is the translation actually a glen

Thanks Minoru .. I realised it should be Vartry for 4d but decided to post exactly as shown in the clue.

I can confirm that 19a is Earith, and have also noted the mistaken principal in 33d!

Who is going to unearth the wooded glen? Hopefully there may be a Wicklow member who has the solution! :O)
