Thanks for those. I see roma = romany but where does New York's peculiar charm come into it?

Couple of ways of looking at this 1) A Romany ignores NY for New York giving "aroma" but also aroma phonetically is also A Roamer for Gypsy 2) Chambers dictionary gives as a definition of aroma: "flavour or peculiar charm".
