I think that Azed has made an error in his puzzle and has somehow got his C from 23a confused with G from 23d.

Thankyou both, after reading the link, the error theory seems the most plausible, we will have to see if an apology is forthcoming. I do wonder if it's worth submitting, as an a veteran of competitions, I do know that when an error has occurred the puzzle is normally deemed void.
I did wonder if 23A could be "gameon" but I could find no justification for this.

I submitted my grid in exactly the form I suggested in the link...ie I drew a diagonal from top left to bottom right of the dubious square and put the conflicting letters in the appropriate slots. It was probably a waste of a stamp, but what the hey!
