can anybody explain why that even though the weather and feather quiz doesn't have to be in until January we have all helped each other without any fussing . but with the money quiz nobody seems to be able to ask questions as they say it's to soon even though it has got to be in earlier.could it be anything to do with the prize money.

It is a question and answer site bibster dear ...but some people feel the need to take it upon themselves to police it !

I thought I was just joining a q&a site here. I didn't realise there was a secret "mafia" removing legitimate answers.

If that is the case then I'm sorry I joined yet another clique-y board.

squarebear, If there are in fact such a group of people as you suggest, then I hope the AB Editor takes action against them. I have only ever reported questions/answers for being abusive and occasionally as duplicates. I would like to think others play by the rules as well. I have not experienced any of my own answers disappearing for no reason (out of over 6000 answers given).

With regard to the Editor taking action - I wouldn't hold your breath. There are worse abuses of the system taking place in other sections of this site and very little appears to have been done about it. You are actually in one of the better behaved sections so your chances of meeting any abuse here are slim. The majority of users on here are a friendly bunch and I wouldn't consider them as being at all cliquey.

squarebear.....People cannot remove your answers unless they register under multiple names to do so .It takes three people to report an answer. So someone who is very clever can sit here with three windows open all in different names and play silly beggars .These sort of people have nothing better to do with their time . As for a Mafia take it with a pinch of salt ....
Backstabbers is the phrase I would use .Those whom you help and then stab you in the back and then manipulate you .Especially those whom you have helped on a personal basis via email with which I have had a very bad experience .They turn on you for their own ends and their own ego driven attention seeking .
So ..pay no attention whatsoever to naysayers and carry on regardless ..good luck in all your quizzes etc.

Noone is forced to look at answers - eg when they want to continue to work on the answers themselves. The Search facility means that you can look back later, when you want to. I am learning through this site about ways to do cryptic, so I am not nearly as quick as the experts here (an acknowledgement to kayakamina, crofter and others)

{re 'Irksome persons', as referred to above, the Ed should take action if irritation by irksome persons spills over into deletiion of answers through abusing the 'reporting system'.

we all find things irksome - for example, I find 'boasters' irksome' (those that have to be first to report their success with completing / nearly completing a puzzle), but I do not delete their boast.

interesting point made above - re difference about asking on this site / asking at work ......... should I not share the enjoyment of doing a puzzle with friends / my partner, or others at the work?
