Have completed all of puzzle bar one light. Have the word to write underneath and the 'appropriate' symbol. Just not sure of one letter in one answer. Can anyone who is doing this puzzle confirm or reject 'flite' as the answer to 40d. I have f?ite (5). Clue is Stick-in-the-mud? Time for a good shake-up.

Thanks for the guidance novalis, the thing is I've got 64 bottles of Badger's in the garage that need attention too. And I'm still considering half a firkin of Nelson's Blood from the Dockyard Brewery.

Not to mention the Alsatian crement and M's wines.

Now things have calmed down, I'm back attempting these puzzles. Have my grid about half full and don't intend to enter at all, but in reference to the "get a life" discussion, sitting down on Sunday with this one made me feel as though I've got mine back!
So, just wanted to say hello to all EVers and wish you a peaceful, happy, crossword-filled Christmas. It's nice to be back!
