This is the first week in a new year, in a new month, and in the reign of Queen Pauline. She has been so determined to win this crown that for several weeks she has been Practicing Posting at Intermettent Intervals some Interesting Information on Quizzical Questions. She now has an something else to occupy her mind - making up the links each week and transmitting them through her psychic powers to whoever has the ability to receive them.
You will have noticed that tonight's shrubbery has been opened once again by myself, gen2, as it will be for the rest of this month. Crofter has family commitments that will keep him away for the next few weeks and I have promised him that I will keep you all in control and add up the scores as they come in. Visitors to the shrubbery are warned that dabbling in the psychic realm can potentially damage your health so take care. Also, anyone borrowing the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder is asked to return it before sunrise.
As usual, the bonus points will be there for the taking as you pour out of the shrubbery at 9:00 am tomorrow and remember that the thread will be opened by Psychic Pauline at about 8.45 in the morning. The MM Link Game should then be officially launched by Queen Pauline when she posts her four words to be linked at 9.00am. Then it is up to yourselves.
The international version of this same game is called KM Links and kicks off at the unearthly hour of about 06.30am! Look out for seekeerz from Oz who provides the entertainment, refreshments and rule of law when dealing with that parallel game. In this case, the choice of words and their links are out of our control. They are the grey words chosen by Kate Mepham in her Crosswords in the Daily Telegraph on Saturday and Monday!
Lordy, I am reaching for the garlic, holy water and crucifix yet again. I thought I had grown out of that kind of terror on being in the SHrubberY on a Friday night (Venus's day, of course, so why should I be so surprised!).
Salem, The Crucible, I need to find the Witchfinder General.....HELP
Gen 2 did say there was an oiuja board hidden in the Shrubbery so we could find out the links but it could be used for all sorts of other things!!!
It's quite flattering to know our posts on Friday night generate such interest.
athenae, this is not a private club, anyone can join in and participate if they wish. I look forward to receiving your entry in tomorrow morning's games.
Pauline I wonder if it is anything to do with Dickens after your Dickensian weekend or as you were playing board games on New Years eve perhaps it's to do with Cluedo etc?
Am I close?
Just looked on Chatterbank, never really looked before and to me it consists of people being extremely rude to each other, one in particular is being very obnoxious about others and from comments made he/she is well know for this. There is also lots of swearing but with asterisks after first couple of letters.
I think Athenae is sadly mistaken if he/she thinks we should go on there. We are all friends here, we aren't rude to each other, don't swear but just enjoy our Friday nights. I don't think we are causing any problems on AB as it's very quiet apart from this thread.
Come on Athenae if you can't beat 'em join 'em!!!!!!
I'm here Pauline, already for your first set of link words.............. any clues would be welcome by the way. I could do with a head start as I will be starting later than usual. :-)
sorry, called away to the phone, has anybody started on the crisps yet, loads of half price offers on ex Christmas stuff at our place
loads of mince pies going cheap, or was that the chickens??
Right now settle down girls, I'm back from the rugby and ready to party .. it's good to see one or two new faces tonight, I hope they have all brought the obligatory bottle, and of course they may well have to undergo the initiation ceremony .... scarey or what??? Tally -ho!! (S)
You're right I'll be a lot warmer then - just watching the local news here and they had 50cm of snow on Prince Edward Island - about a couple of hours drive from here. Brrrrrrr
