Compiler's relative gravity when king's docked in row. (9)
I - B - O - L - O. It looks like imbroglio. I (compiler) - bro (relative) g (gravity) ?? but I don't understand the rest.

Germany's light attempt at lyricism. (8) - O - N - T - Y.

Can anyone help, please?

SONNETRY .. Germany's light (sun) =Sonne, attempt = try
Cheers
IMBROGLIO ... just as you surmised as far as the 'g', then I presume that 'king docked' is maybe Lion (king of the jungle) docked i.e. with missing tail.
Cheers again
