As usual, the game was launched yesterday morning by Queen Pauline posting four words. Players then had to guess what other words had been chosen to be matched with them.

Did you spot the clues in the last line of her poem?
. . . Think of places away from home.

I am now in a position to reveal that Queen Pauline chose the following word pairings:

drift AWAY
holiday MAKER
ideal HOME(S)
beach BALL

Yes, they were all followers again this week but with fewer possibilities to choose from, there were more scorers than last week. Consequently, many have had to relinquish their membership of the free-fall club.

So, who were the winners and losers this time?

First out of the shrubbery, was former queen Alibobs who barely paused long enough to type her resposes before knocking out both DRIFT AWAY and IDEAL HOME for 4 points.
Although not quite as fast, but within the two-minute rule, Dinkypuzzled, fordward, ulysses100, Grenmus, Christiana & evsajo all gained bonus points as well for IDEAL HOME. The popularity of that option then bagan to peter out after this initial flurry.

At 9:02 ulysses100 was in a fun mood and found BEACH BALL for 2 points as well making 4 for this game.

The final pairing held out until JMR27 popped in at 9:37 with HOLIDAY MAKER for 2 points.

The only other double hitters were devadiva & joto (2 points each)

So who will be my '*** HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK ***'? For this honour I have selected the first of the double-hitters Alibobs. '*** CONGRATULATIONS ***' Alibobs - after two barren weeks, you really needed those points.

This is also an appropriate point to welcome two new players to this game - beejay1124 & kaysiecat. Beejay even scored a point. We hope you enjoy this bit of light-relief at the weekends and we look forward to seeing you both again next Saturday. Any others interested are also welcome to join in the fun.

Now for the Leader Board . . .

League Table Leaders - for January Week 3

With Strix & Magyar both failing to score this week, it has allowed others to bunch up at the front. The leader-board now looks like this:

7 points: Strix & ulysses100
6 points: Magyar & fordward
4 points: Alibobs & JMR27
3 points: jan1956
There are 13 players on 2 points
and a further 13 on 1 point

'*** CONGRATULATIONS ***' to Strix & ulysses10 for being the current joint leaders.

With just one more week to go, it is anybody's guess who will triumph for January. The four most likely contenders are not far enough ahead to discount a possible dark horse managing a sprint finish. Magyar has already shown it is possible to score 6 points (or more) in a single week and so even the back markers are still in with a chance.

See you all at the same place next weekend. Be sure to be there.

Hotshot of the week - I rather like that moniker

Thanks Pauline and gen2

Thank Pauline and Gen2. I actually managed to score 2
points this week. Congrats Alibobs "Hot shot of the Week"
One more week to try and read Pauline's mind!!!!
ohhhh hmmmm closing in
Well done Pauline! You managed to defeat me totally yet again! But thanks for the fun of trying, and thanks to Gen2 for standing by to score.
Well done all!!
Alibobs..hot shot of the week!!...Brilliant!!...Women rule?...or is it too little too late?

The men are still reading my mind...what a worry!!!

HELP!!!..well done chaps anyway...I think!

Welcome beejay and kaysiecat.

Thanks everyone....Love Pauline x
NO points, but I think I am getting Pauline's drift, sort of soft, fluffy and dreamy.

Come on chaps, concentrate and drink some Baileys or a Tia Maria or a Snowball.

We CAN defeat the matriarchy!

(Briefly and who knows to what cost)
Ooohh..can't wait for the deciding week!!!...Come on you girls!!!
P.S. Strix...it isn't clouds next week!... :-))
Well a lonely 1 for me - I just don't seem to be able to get on your wavelengh Pauline, we'll have to try some telepathy. ~~~~~~~~~~ Is it working ~~~~~~~~~
Thanks Pauline and gen2.
Only one point again, but I suppose thats better than none.
Don't think this month will herald any success for me - next month I'll be in at the start (missed week 1 this time)
Congrats to the winners and leaders.
Have a good week everyone - see you next Friday in the shrubbery.
Congratulations Alibobs. Another zilch for me. Only one point behind though so there's still hope, just need to try and get back on Pauline's wavelength (although it's obvious that that's a lot easier said than done).
Zilch again.
Congratulations to Hotshot of the Week, Alibobs and to Strix and Ulysses.
Thanks Pauline - I really thought I had one with the beach umbrella, but . . . . .
Gen2 didn't have to work his abacus too hard to figure our score.
See you all next week.
Thanks to pauline and gen2. I think that I'm finally getting into Pauline's mind -- bring on the feminine side of the brain ! Come on Strix I'm sure that we can make it to the final post. Maybe I can make it to the altar after all (do I hear chickens and eggs ?) !
Thanks, Pauline and Gen2. Only now seen this, having at last got my turn on this laptop.
And I'm so excited - one whole point, and all mine!
