Must be noodle to fit with the across clues ...my dictionary gives noodle as ..a slang term for the head ..I think it had to cross with Polenta ..mines in the letterbox now so can't check ..Good Luck
sorry i have not got this puzzle but noddle is an informal name for the head in chambers
