Thanks. I thought that this was the answer too EXCEPT that when I tried to google it, It had two Rs and two Ns which meant that it didn't fit. And I coudn't think of any alternative. So I reckon your suggestion must be right

My rather ancient copy of Chambers has it an optional one or two n's, so run with the single n.

I am always amazed at the extent of the knowledge and ability to "find out" of Generalist puzzlers. I suppose that's what the crossword is all about: probing beyond our immediate knowledge where there's a gap, but some of you seem to have an amazing level of knowledge anyway!
And, indeed, what is Prospect there for unless it is to push us into new zones- of knowledge and thinking!
