On both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons during this week, I enjoyed visiting Salisbury Racecourse, where Im an Annual Member. This is my local course (flat racing only) and I aim to be free to attend most of the meetings during the season. However, as a full-time carer, its necessary for me to arrange cover whilst away from home, and two afternoons out also means that a special effort has to be made to keep things together on other fronts.
At this time of the year the garden needs so much extra attention, with grass to be cut, flowers to be dead headed and weeds to be vanquished! On the plus side theres a glut of fresh vegetables to be enjoyed, with runner beans (my favourite) and tomatoes both plentiful throughout the month of August.
