there's a hole out west that just might be big enough to hold 2,000,000 astronauts, but only a few of them had to take it on before they took off. what and where is it and what does it have to do with those few?

It has been suggested that this is the Schooner crater in Nevada where the landscape is so moonlike it was used to train astronauts. Don't know if it's the right answer tho' & am puzzled about 2nd half of the question. PS Don't worry about the capitals littlemunch, it's easily done. Good luck!
I beleieve it's the Meteor Crater just outside of Winslow, AZ...
I believe that it is the Schooner Crater, it was a hole created in a nuclear test and the crater was used by some of the apollo astronauts for training. Besides, Schooner matches the old west theme
the correct answer is the Berringer crater in flaggstaff,Az. the last part is it is moon surface simulation practice for the "few" astronauts that go into space.
Try looking up Kilbourne Hole & Hunt's Hole   Dona Ana County, New Mexico     Apollo astronauts trained there.
my question is, for it to be meteor crater, which "city" would it be located in?  Winslow may be closer, but flagstaff holds the museum.  There has got to be a better answer than these, with a "city" location.
