Question Author
boysinblue 68, please refer to my original comment. The title of the emailI received was Local Quiz., nothing more, nothing less. There was no mention of what charity this quiz was trying to raise money for, when the closing date was due, or any other indication other than a friend kindly sent this to me in email form as something for me to do, as a bit of fun.
I therefore find it very unfortunate that you appear to be aiming your comments to flopsymopsy, who, in her thread, was only trying to help, as indeed, do most people on this site. I am also very surprised at the accusation directed at flopsymopsy regarding manners. I found your first response directed to me, laked manners. My request was courteous, I was courteous in thanking people for the trouble they took to help. Why accuse me of not putting the name of the quiz, was I too embarrassed to do so? I repeat, I did not know the name of the quiz other than LOCAL QUIZ which is what I put. You accuse me of ruining the quiz for everyone else. Yesterday, I received an email which informed me that someone in Ontario had received this quiz under the title Local Quiz. Do your unecessary comments now apply world wide?
I am extremely sorry that flopsymopsy been affected by your comments, and is now not wishing to help people as a result. She, like almost everyone else who uses this site, was only trying to be of assistance in a very gracious manner. Every weekend people seek help here to complete the Telegraph crossword, they may, or may not send their entry in, but there is a prize. Are they wrong to ask for help too? If it bothers you so much, why log on to the site in the first place?
In conclusion, many thanks once again to flopsymopsy and Lucienne for their help.
