On reaching the age of 18 years, the first two appeared to want to get as far away from home as possible and went to University - in Stirling and Aberdeen. Son Number 3 stayed closer to home by going to Leeds. That�s only an hour's drive across the Pennines, and I was introduced to the joy of bin bags of dirty laundry turning up in my kitchen at weekends.
When Michael graduated last summer, we breathed a sigh of relief that having to pay three lots of tuition fees and rent were behind us. Between them, they had clocked up 19 years of student maintenance. Whilst wondering what to do with our new-found wealth, one of the dogs slipped a disc - and university fees were replaced by vet�s fees. Kids and pets!!
