The second week in the reign of The Serene Stephanie was celebrated on an Australian Beach and I can now reveal her chosen links:
INDIAN Summer Sun DOWNER Sand DOLLAR Sea URCHIN
There was quite a distinct antipodean flavour and I must confess that I had to look up "Sand Dollar" (a flat circular sea creature of shallow coastal waters). I was convinced no-one would predict that ~ but I was wrong!
The popular link (which proved to be a big money spinner) was INDIAN SUMMER. It was first spotted by early starter, Dinkypuzzled and quickly followed by tearinghair, lysander & deecee131 ~ all in good time to qualify for TWO POINTS. Its worth noting that tearinghair has quickly settled down to MM Linking as a regular scorer! Well done!
Another early hit was registered by Dustybun with SEA URCHIN and she was closely followed by Jools to claim the very same TWO POINTS. Before 09.04, there had been 13 entries and I had given away almost as many points.
Scoring settled down to a trickle until 09.25, when Entrant #21 appeared on the scene. It was the shrewd kettledrum with SUN DOWNER. She was the only one to suggest this link and with her usual panache stole TWO difficult POINTS.
Once the game reached Predictions #40, it was time for the Canadian entries. Mr Ont-ice predicted Sea Urchin (One Point) and Mrs Ont-ice surprised me with her SAND DOLLAR and the last link fell for the remaining TWO POINTS. In this quite challenging game, I should like to mark this spectacular joint effort by nominating the Ont-ices as JOINT HOT SHOTS OF THE WEEK!
*** Let trumpets sound and cannon roar ***
*** Let the people cheer and shout Encore ***
FOUR POINTS: Dustybun, lysander & tearinghair
THREE POINTS: Elspeth
TWO POINTS: centrino, deecee131, devadiva, Dinkypuzzled, Jools, kettledrum, Mrs Ont-ice, paulineward & ulysses100
Twelve others are on ONE POINT.
I wonder if The Serene Stephanie will be on a walkabout next week?
Until then, this is crofter signing off.
See you next Saturday: Same time Same place Same Steff
Missed the links this week. As some of you know I have a very sick dog, she has a brain tumor. I've made a posting about it in Animals and Nature. Thanks to the Shrubbery Squad for their support on Friday night. Wendyxx
Had I not gotten Sand Dollar I would have deserved to have been shot as 15 mins from Chez Onty the beach is littlered with them. Pretty shells: http://amcatholic.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/ sand-dollar.jpg
So sorry Miss Meg<b/> that your dog is so ill. I think you are going to have to play God - a role none of us like when it comes to our four-legged friends. My heart is with you.
Ont-Ice and Jan, thank you for your kind words. She is asleep now and contented. I have no intention of putting her through any suffering for selfish reasons. The vet suggested that because she is so stressed out at being in their care coming home might make her more content, which it has done. I will take every hour as it comes and I do know the end is not far away. Thanks, Wendyxx
golly, you do pop up at odd times, Miss Dusty - I thought everyone was well asleep when I posted that. Yes, I can believe that would be the case once you're over first night nerves !!!
