MM Links Solutions October 2009 [Week 1]

This first week in the reign of Queen Christiana the Cheerful went beautifully even though the subject matter may have come as a surprise. Tempting all sorts of dubious replies, Her Cheerfulness went with “Getting Hitched” and chose the following links:

Marriage LINES
SHOTGUN Wedding
NOSE Ring
Rice CAKE

There was not much here for the romantics among our ranks!

The first five entrants were all MM ex-champions and they couldn’t raise a single point between them! It fell to beejay himself to be the first to suggest the popular SHOTGUN WEDDING for TWO POINTS and he was followed by another five ex-champions with ZERO SCORES!

It took Entrant #12 in the form of rogerr (making a welcome return to the fray) appearing at 09.02 with WEDDING LINES and SHOTGUN in hand to score FOUR POINTS for the highlight of the Round. No one came even close to this achievement and so it was the easiest of duties to nominate Lady Barbara (aka rogerr) as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

There came a couple of timely Shotgun Weddings from Strix and slaney (each qualifying for bonus points) before the time limit kicked in! In the meantime, we had the usual double entry from JimJools, however this week both were to make it to the scoreboard for TWO POINTS ~ Jim for Marriage Lines and Jools for the new hit with NOSE RING (No comment)! This is the first time I can recall both of them qualifying for bonus points! Well done!

After the initial bedlam, it was Elspeth who sauntered in at 09.37 as Entrant #23 with RICE CAKE to pick up the last TWO POINTS. Apart from london_lassy, who also had Rice Cake, in the final twenty contestants there were only three more Shotgun Weddings before the Game finally closed down.

The League Table after this first week is:

FOUR POINTS: rogerr
TWO POINTS: beejay, Elspeth, Jim, Jools, slaney & Strix
ONE POINT: ChrisHewat, cliffyg, london_lassy & Mrs Ontice

Not a great scoring round, but plenty to be getting on with!
