My mind is a complete blank regarding 13 and 17 down.

13 down is "Pinion part of car bodywork (4)". I have "W?N?". Could it be "WING" but if so why?

17 down is "Spirit of car model, we hear? (4)" I have "?A?C" but no thoughts as to what the answer might be.

Any suggestions gratefully received

13d Wing - a pinion is a flight feather or last joint of a wing
17d Marc - a type of brandy, sounds like 'Mark' (model)

Many thanks Lie-in King. Without your help I think I would have struggled for ages over those two - and then given up!
DGR. I too was completely bemused by 17 down, and could only come up with Marc. Thanks to Lie-in King for providing a feasible explanation. Rather obstruse clue!!

I agree mjscons. Usually the clues are not quite so obscure. It's good to know I was not the only one racking my brains to make sense of 17 down!
