Chelle7272 – thank you for completely missing the point in your otherwise highly considered reply! I take it that you are also in the ‘to hell with the wishes of the quiz setter we can ask anything we like’ camp. I don’t have a problem with AB. I simply have a problem with people who believe the quiz setter has no right to request that quiz questions are not asked on here and no right to have those wishes respected.

He does, however, clearly state on his website (quote): Don't worry if some of the questions appear rather hard. You ask for clarification of ‘contrary to the wishes of the quiz setter’. My point applies generally to any quiz where the quiz setter requests that questions are not asked, or not asked before a certain time etc. But in respect of Bill MacLagan I suggest you look at either

Instead you have simply stated that ‘He can certainly ask but I doubt anyone will adhere to such an unrealistic aim’. Well suppose he does ask because he is going to rely on the honesty of people who say they have not asked questions on AB (or elsewhere) when determining their answers. If his request was well known and someone nevertheless asked one of the questions on AB then would you answer it? As a clue the answer is one word, either Yes or No. And given that this is AB and your attitude seems to be anything can be asked and by definition you must know the answer then I assume you will answer the question as posed.

Daily-Editor - not hypocritical at all. I fully admit I asked for a "clue" to one question, but that wasn't GBQ. Also, I did not enter that particular quiz, but having already purchased it, I was still supporting the charity.
The "lack of honesty" statement was not aimed at you. That was aimed at those who want to be spoon-fed the answers. I wondered when you'd get around to my username - I often wish I had never picked it. However, I don't use numerous names & have no wish to change as it has real meaning to me - purely football related & only one person has ever worked it out (see Sport section).
I think pulse876 has answered your query about the more respectable sites. They are sites that monitor GBQ questions & remove them or direct answers (in line with Bill's wishes). The majority of competitors comply with his wishes-unfortunately, not everyone does. Of course, he does not stop anyone using the internet, but as I said earlier (it appears conveniently overlooked by yourself) there is a distinct difference between using the internet yourself to search for an answer & posting a question directly on here & waiting for someone else to tell the world. I'm sure you too would find it frustrating if you did the research yourself & found the answer & then saw the answer freely given away to people who can't be bothered to do the headwork?
