Oh no it isnt I have kept count I could even give you a list
think you need to remove your underlining now
Smouse - we have all paid for this quiz, it's for the Air Ambulance, so surely asking for help isn't that bad. Yes, a few have asked for a lot of answers, but most of us have really spent time and effort getting this far. We enjoy the mental stimulation and only ask for answers when we really are stumped. We're not talking about winning a lot of money either, some quizzes only give perhaps a £10 prize, so it is really a harmless pastime.
yes helly welly it is a good cause and most of us have done it and no-one [not even smouse] minds anyone asking for help but she is right over 80 questions have been asked ,which makes a mockery of all my work and by the way i know the answers you are looking for and no I'm not telling
Yes, but I haven't asked 80 questions.
Diane1954....as the setter of this quiz maybe so many questions wouldnt have been asked if fuller details of what was expected in the answers were given, as in Q64 for example. It appears that the setters of these quizzes (which I do enjoy very much and appreciate how long it must take to set them) are quite happy to criticise when questions are asked but do not like admitting to any mistakes which they have made eg Q87 which appears to have a letter missing
Diane1954 think I have misread the above from you, I presumed you were the setter of this quiz when you said you had done it (well done if you have) so the answer that was shown to Diane1954, could the setter please read.
I don't think the setter of this one comes on here.
sorry can't claim to be setter of this quiz.Just a brain weary pleb.Helly welly didnt think you had asked them all,the person/persons responsible knows who they are.
Diane1954 - "by the way i know the answers you are looking for and no I'm not telling "

So ner! Want me to put your teddy back in the pram?
I spoke to the setter by telephone with a query on his last quiz - he does not have a computer or access to the internet. He told me all his questions and answers are found in books and it should not be necessary to access the internet to find the answers. I expect he would be mortified if he knew of the existence of Ab and this thread particularly.
I have spent many hours on this quiz, and find a crossword dictionary is much better for solving the clues than looking at endless lists of nursery rhymes. I still need a few more but there is plenty of time to go yet. I find if I put it down for a few days and then go back I usually get another one. Why is there this need for people to get it done and start asking for answers within a day or two of it coming out, I see no pleasure in that, and one learns nothing? Sorry folks, rant over lol
at the end of the day what harm if we ask question its not hurting anyone and the setters getting the money for a good course thats all that counts and you know did to come on and read them
Would you mind repeating that in plain english.
Fisher and wife, are you honestly saying that you have paid your money so you will ask all the questions if you want to just to get it finished asap. I think you have said this is your local quiz, it is mine too, but you obviously dont ENJOY actually doing it and trying to work out the clues. I agree there is nothing wrong in asking questions, and have done so myself but not until after spending weeks trying to work out the clues. So many of the easy questions have been asked and as a regular to this quiz you should by now be on Mr Lyall's wavelength. As a matter of interest, do you just accept the answers given, or do you check them? Just in case you are wondering, no I havent finished this one, and if the marking is as bad as on the last one, then god help us all lol.
I too have not yet finished, there are many duplications and some misleading and I think at least two misspelt questions and of course some quite obscure rhymes.
I envisage Mr Lyall sat surround by dusty tomes and he seems a very dedicated man to this cause and yes his marking is a law unto his self, the only thing that would make him chuckle is how many wrong answers have been suggested.
Still we keep plugging away as we love to labour over even the simplest of quizzes for weeks.
I quite agree about the obscure rhymes, but then Mr Lyall's nursery rhyme books would have been dispensed with long before us "children of the 50's" needed them. lol
Does everyone realise this Quiz was going quite well, all helping each other when we could, which is the idea of the site, then smouse decided she would put the cat amongst the pigeons and set everyone against each other......Well done smouse, you have done just what I think you set out to do. Maybe its better to ignore the snide remarks, just enjoy the quizzes, and help when we can, I know I will
I agree with you barb. I do so enjoy these quizzes and would hate to have my enjoyment spoiled. I think most of us do follow our own rules and only ask when we're really stumped. We seem to all help each other (with one exception) and it seems that we all do the same quizzes! I like the ones where I can either pay for them by Paypal or get them sent to me by email. Anyway, carry on enjoying the site despite some people!!
Smouse has not set anyone against anyone else, has said nothing nasty, just put a point of view - whatever happened to freedom of speech? Barb and Hellywelly, you must have noticed that there are serial askers who never even try to answer any clues and who never even say please or thankyou; I for one would feel guilty in accepting a prize where I had done little of the work.(in my case chance of a prize is about nil I would say, lol) Fisher and wife have vaguely hinted that it is easier to ask questions than figure them out for themselves, well in that case, what is the point of doing the quiz unless they are going to donate any prize money back to the cause. It is a very good first prize in this quiz.

I hope you both continue to enjoy Mr Lyalls quizzes as they are always a good talking point, mostly we are moaning about them but one of these days he might produce one without any typos. Good Luck
Flopsymopsy - I'm a child of the 40's, not the 50's!!!! I still can't finish them all though. Hope we can all avoid any bad feeling and just enjoy the mental stimulation.
