MM Links Solutions August 2010 [Week 3]

How does evsajo do it? She was spot on with her prediction ... of Zero points! (On the Celsius scale of course)
For the rest of you, "The Lady Ursula” (aka owllady) teased us all with talk of the RAF and then she went and had everyone chasing after some unseasonal white stuff.
There were many possibilities for all the words so scoring was understandably low. Here are her chosen links that you hopefully matched:
Winter PALACE
Snow LEOPARD
Ice BREAKER
Ski JUMP
Read on for the cold facts.

12 point scorers
20 points allocated
So you see, with so many options possible, the scoring was low - it really boiled down to who was on Lady Ursula's wavelength.
Tearinghair jumped in as player #2 and earned 2 points for SKI JUMP. Grenmus and Rockfordill were within the allowed 2 minutes and also pick up 2 points, but Rockfordill was not content with that and spotted 2 more points for SNOW LEOPARD.
As the only double-hitter in the game this weekend, I hereby declare that
Rockfordill is *** HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK *** (cue Crofters fanfare)
The third link was found at 9:06 thanks to Pauline allowing Reg enough time to properly contemplate the possibilities and he came up with a smashing ICE BREAKER and his first 2 points of the month (almost worthy of another fanfare).
That elusive 4th link of WINTER PALACE, home of the Tsars, was obviously built to last, and last it did - just under 12 hours until it was demolished by Boxtops for the final 2 points.
Single points were picked up by Handbaglady, grannydi, cliffyg, kawakiri, wickedtongue and lysander.
Everyone else was left out in the cold.

The monthly table now looks like this:
8 points: tearinghair
5 points: JOOLS
4 points: rockfordill, Dustybun, seekeerz
3 points: joto
2 points 13 players
1 point : 10 players
It is still not a foregone conclusion and anyone could potentially be the winner for August. Hang on in there and be sure to play early for bonus points next weekend.
This is gen2 handing the abacus back to Crofter
Have fun everyone.

I'm surprised to see that I'm still in second place - Nil points for both Jim and I. Well done to Rockfordill as Hot shot for the week and well done to all those who managed to score. Thanks to both Gen2 and Lady Ursula - I hope you have had a good Birthday toady Gen2. I'm not sure if I'll be able to enter next week as I will be in Canada visiting my daughter - so will be away for 4 weeks see you all when I get back.
