A somewhat belated wish to everyone who's ever had any link to Cornwall - even if it was only eating a Ginster's pasty ;-)

Ha, ha. You're a mine of useless information, Chris; where do you dig them up from, Tin-ternet?
(Nice singing though).

It's serious business down there in the far south-west, Cap'n!

Redruth, yesterday:
Since I was born in lovely Perranporth, I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know it was St Piran's Day today....
The ole Mowzle choir are singing as well as ever - just as good as Treorchy I think , thanks for the reminder :-))
Of course, I just had to see what the post was all about! ..discovered Sr. Piran discovered tin in Cornwall. I did eat a Cornish Pasty in St. Ives
and walked out to St. Michael's Mount at low tide. Lovely county ... maybe DTC will invite me down for a holiday!

Thanks for the posts.

Having done a bit of googling, I'm taking a liking to Piran!
"Piran not only gained a reputation for miraculous powers but also as a prodigious drinker, giving rise to the expression, 'as drunk as a Perraner'. St Piran is said to have lived to the ripe old age of 206"

Well, I think we'd all better raise a glass, or twenty, to St Piran, Chris. Cheers, here's to the next 136 years.
Oh dear, I forgot, I'll be in the doghouse with my son in law. St Piran was thought to be Irish. For some reason the Irish decided they didn't want him so they tied him to a mill stone and rolled him off the cliff into a stormy sea. The sea immediately calmed and Piran floated away landing on the coast of Cornwall.
Don' ee forgit he didi die when he fell down a well drunk..dead drunk he were. Did a proper job.

Have a look at how Helston celebrated St Piran's day.
"The sea immediately calmed and Piran floated away landing on the coast of Cornwall."

Moments later he was on the way to Rwanda.

^^^Gotta laugh, Douglas!
Flora Day is a very important day in the local calendar. You have to be invited to dance. You can't just rock up in your best bib and tucker.

^^^ Blast! I'd been looking for an excuse to don full morning dress in order to show everyone what a style icon I am ;-)
Oh Chris of course you would be so welcome. I should have said that only the main dancers are invited. You can follow on towards the end and many do and there are always dancers along the sides.
I look forward to meeting you there.
