An engineer told me:

when you are going along a motorway with the window open and the air in the car starts going

duh-duh-duh-duh..yes you didnt mis-hear, it goes:

duh-duh-duh-duh

that;s the ram jet effect. AND AND AND whenever you hear it you should reflect that the Germans in WW2 were the only side that managed to get anything to fly using the prinicple. It is also the principle behind cruise apparently but I stand to be corrected on that one.
