EMP. ElectroMagneticPulse Cannons. It's the only explanation, and they do exhibit this type of behaviour. They are on test by UK/US and Russian Military quite frequently. You should unplug, then replug your tv.

If you cover your radio in tinfoil, it does prevent this occurrence.

Good luck.

Marge, that reminds me of those UFO-believing nut jobs who wear hats made out of tin foil to keep the aliens getting into their minds! ;-)

Estie, I wear a tinfoil hat.

Did you read 'Walking On Glass' by Iain Banks? :-))

The usually rather dependable MargeB is on another, how do you say?... send ups? I call it leg pull... Check your medication level MargeB...
It's true Clanad! I read it on a website! Jesus equipped the UFO's with EMP cannons! Just after he'd finished off the stripes on the zebras!
Ah, it all makes perfect sense now ;-)
Of course if you completely cover your radio with tin foil, you may as well have saved the trouble and thrown it away.  Ever heard of a Faraday cage??
My suggestion is that you've got marmalade inside the remote.  This is causing buttons to stick down.  So whenever it is left pointing at the appliance that function is activated.  I have known this to happen when soft rubber buttons get a bit squashed inside the hard plastic casing of a remote and stick in the 'on' position.
Your neighbour has bought the same TV as you, has the same remote and is pointing it in your window to turn your TV off and wind you up.
