I can't work out what the figures relate to. there are 4 pieces of data for each country but only 2 column headings, and I can't follow the units row
Also you have used decimal points where I would expect some to be commas
Are the 4 columns_
-Population,
-GDP,
-Sugar confectionery Sales Volume,
-sugar confectionary Sales Value
?
You need to take a scientific approach to the question, and Google the figures.
In which case the answer would appear to be ALL of them. The reasoning behind the choice = the data cannot be understood!
I can't work out what your figures are but as a first step i'd divide sales value by sales volume and then see if any figure seems anomalous.
If that throws up nothing I'd look at each sales value figure as a proportion of GDP and see if any figure looks odd.
Then if necessary I'd work out the sales value per head of poulation.
Hi alaric - I note you only joined this site earlier this evening. You have been given advice from fiction-factory and I think you should answer the query he put to you at 20.00. Can I ask why you asked the question you did? Is it possibly an exam question you have to answer?
You dont need help in sales volume
but in spotting duff values

the five countries have paired data
four pairs will be consistent
such as
one billion - - - two billion
five billion - - - ten billion
four billion - - - eight billion
half a billion - -- fifty billion

clearly the fourth one in th set is NOT consistent

so you have to identify the inconsistent pair and suggest why - arithmetic error, cultural or whatever
I think the decimal points should be commas
The data is:
POP GDP SALES £ Sales TONNES
China 1354040 9467776 1294 26407
India 1245961 1937999 233 758
Japan 127343 4898462 154 2985
USA 316355 16768050 1848 10262
UK 63888 2520963 186 2822

COUNTRY POP....... GDP SALES 000T Sales$m
China........1354040 9467776 1294 26407
India....... .1245961 1937999 233 758

UK........... .63888 2520963 186 2822
The India sales value looks far too low relative to population- it's much lower in total even though it's got such a large population
