if it took an average man 15 mins to walk 1 mile , then he stopped for a break for 30 seconds then walked half a mile back then stopped for a further 30 seconds and returned to the end point of his original journey , how long has it took him to walk the half mile back ?

Now I'm even more confused. His original journey was a mile not half a mile!

if i told u that bednobs i might as well tell u the answer
Eh? There is no answer.
I'm completely lost by this entire question and entire thread.
it does seem to have wandered half a mile off track. I suppose if you calculated from the time of the first post in which it did so...
smartypants you only asked for the time it took to walk half mile back, not the whole journey, or including stops.
Plus he seems to have gone half way back only to turn around again!
Assuming he always walks at the same pace, 7.5 mins.

If he doesn't always walk at the same pace, anything between 5 minutes and 5 years.

so lets have a vote whose saying no answer and who needs longer to work out?

smartypants,
why don't you give us your answer and see if any of us can work out how you arrived at it, because your question and subsequent comments collectively make no sense whatsoever
smartypants answer was twelve and a half minutes but i don't have much faith in his reasoning ...

Oh gosh, yes!

What a car crash.

as i did say earlier i may of missed some of the question out? but its basically the same question .
Let me put it this way: can you show the working that led you to your answer of 12 1/2 minutes?
Question Author
i think it was in km p/h i cant remember , but thats not gonna change the answer anyway
so you are expecting us to answer a question, some of which by your admission has been omitted? We do not stand a chance.
think i'll go for a walk ....
Question Author

you are confusing everyone .
You said "12 and a half minutes". That's what I wrote.
